All meals (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea) are provided and prepared daily by our cook.
In addition to the three main meals, we provide breakfast at 7am for our early arrivals and a light supper at 5.45pm for our late stayers.
Our menus are prepared in six weekly cycles, with each day’s menu providing your child with fifty percent of their recommended daily dietary intake.
We have both winter and summer menus in place. Our winter meals see us introducing warm bakes and soups. Moving into the warmer months, our summer menu provides a mix of different salads together with the children’s favourite warm dishes.
Each week we provide two meat, one chicken, one fish and one vegetarian dish, with no dish being replicated twice within the six week period.
Our menus reflect many different cultures from around the world. Suggestions for dishes from children and their families are implemented and welcomed.
Annually, we engage in discussion, and provide samples of our menus to the Nutrition Department of Central Coast Area Health. We welcome their professional input towards our menu planning. Consultation with health professionals is also sought and welcomed when catering for children suffering from both food allergies and intolerances.
Hygiene is practised with every meal and we enhance our dental hygiene by following every meal, with swish and swallow.
The current weeks and the following week’s menu plans can be viewed in our foyer. We are happy to provide you with recipes of your child’s favourite dishes.
Our sign on roles in each of our rooms, details how your child ate during the day. In the possum (baby) room, those details are on your child’s individual day sheet and the times of your child eating are detailed.
